Just another unfortunate expense we have. Not only to our wallets but to our environment & health. Not going to preach the negative effects of store bought laundry detergent BUT I will give a quick and simple “how to” on making your own.
You need 3 cheap & simple ingredients.
Soap, borax & laundry booster.
Everything you can usually buy at your local store.
I made 3 batches in under 15 minutes.
Step 1: Grate the bar of soap on a cheese grater.
Step 2: Mix 1 cup of borax, 1 cup of laundry booster and the grated soap in some sort of storage container & mix.
Step 3: Use appx 2 tbsp per load of laundry & that’s it!
The hardest part its grating the soap, gotta use a little arm muscle 😉
I used all 3 bars of soap, 3 cups of each borax & laundry booster and both boxes have about half left if not more for another batch!
Total coast?
$1.24 – 3 pack ivory soap
$4.47 – box borax
$3.96 – box laundry booster
A grand total of $9.67 for 4x the amount of detergent a regular $10 bottle can do! Plus – its natural & better for the environment!
Happy Earth Day 🌎
How many loads do you get out of this? Does it have a clean smell?
